What is GA4 (Google Analytics 4)?

Google's next-generation analytics platform — an event-based data model that replaced GA Universal.

Detailed definition

GA4 replaced Universal Analytics in 2023. It uses an event-based data model (every interaction is an "event"). Advantages: cross-device and cross-platform tracking, machine learning insights, free BigQuery export, privacy-first design. Setup: gtag.js or Google Tag Manager. Enhanced Measurement automatically tracks scrolls, outbound links, video and file downloads.
